XTENSION PLEASE!

Workshop 20.06-23.06.2006

.abstract
Create a thing, an object which is a machine. An unexpected machine, which is a link, which is digital, which can be outside or inside, which create interaction, feed-back, tensions between places and people, which is material and unmaterial, which create one simple signal with complex structure, which is an assembly of various systems, which has a sensitivity and resistance, which is a tool and a toy, which is mechanical and analogic, which has a center, a core and peripherics, which can be plugged and unplugged, which contains code and articulations.

.theme
analog and digital compost used as an extension to install a virtual-physic organism. The main purpose is to generate an unexpected creature with digitals and analogs inputs/outputs, peripherals, recycled electrical devices such as tvs, telephones... assembled between each others with sensors etc...
the "thing" is exponential, it will cover the space in the villa and maybe grow outside... still interacting and living for what it is done for: nothing. The creature will interact with us or itself we don't know where it's going to end or what it's going to do. In this way, this entity is absurd-like. This project is the support wich will bring us a new experience in the combination of technology (robots, sound designers, machines...) and spaciality (landscape, architecture, design...) in that way, we'll try to use the differents skills of each people involved in the project , to create much more than a machine: a new territory.at the end of these 4 working days, you'll be invited to come, visit, and use the new territory generated by the "creature"

.site
Real workbase:
Villa Borego is situated in Paris, 20th, During the workshop, the VILLA will be used as a base to link and fit things together. By connecting the site and the exploration of its properties, the workshop creates a opportunity to explore the link between analog and digital as an extension of an unexpected organism

He essentially works to make derive the tools, techniques, methods and machines which intervene normally only like transmitters. His actions in the media systems often consist in introducing a distortion, a small disfonctionement, not as a food for the system but in the system itself, in its functioning...His relation with reality passes by the sound, via a practice of listening...
